At the tail end of September, I had the pleasure of joining a surf trip to Salina Cruz, deep in mainland Mexico, alongside 15 other leaders from San Diego’s commercial real estate scene. The trip, organized by Cameron Aldrich of Chicago Title, brought together lenders, brokers, bankers, and advisors from across the county who collaborate throughout the year.
We took over the entire Punta Conejo Resort, an all-inclusive haven for the week, where our hosts treated us to incredible meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I’m already missing the fresh morning papaya more than I thought possible.
Reaching the waves wasn’t always easy; some spots required navigating dirt roads through the jungle. But the effort paid off with long headlands and points offering beautifully groomed, glassy walls of water, set against stunning backdrops of mountains, hills, and sand dunes—it was truly awe-inspiring.
While the waves were a blast, the real highlight was unplugging from the daily grind. The trip gave us a unique opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and share what’s been working in a year that’s felt slower than usual. It was a chance to strengthen our network, find ways to support each other, and gear up for 2025.
A huge thanks to Cameron Aldrich at Chicago Title for organizing and making it all happen. I is beyond grateful for the invite and eagerly anticipate the next amazing adventure.
